In 2014 I had a lot of ups and downs… with my make up bag and beauty routine. Here’s what I learned.
1. There is a thing as too many samples. I love trying new things and beauty products usually top my list for “I’ll try anything once” but in 2014 I realized that I was a bit willy nilly when it came to my beauty routine. From masks to matte lips and everything in between, it was too much. My skin freaked out and I didn’t know where I was headed next when a sample ran out. Then I began to really take note of my skin’s appearance and committed to certain products that felt right, finally hitting my beauty stride. I cancelled my beauty subscriptions (hello, money saver) and cleaned out my make up bag. I’m looking forward to a consistent and glowing beauty routine in 2015.
2. A base coat makes all the difference. My nails are a strong point for me, literally. They are healthy, they grow and they usually look good with or without polish. But my polish didn’t always look good. This year I learned how to perform a good home manicure and maintain my nails, base coat included. I found that when I used a base coat, my polish stayed longer and my nails were healthier underneath when I removed the polish. Here’s to lasting manicures in 2015!
3. Consistency is key. As I mentioned, I’m looking forward to remaining consistent with my beauty routine in 2015. I know that when I use the beauty products consistently, like face wash, shampoo/conditioner, masks and moisturizers, my hair and skin looks and feels better. Now that I have a few favorites I don’t have to guess how a new product will perform. It was thanks to some samples that I found them and now that I have my faves, I’m never letting go!
Cheers to a happy, healthy and beautiful New Year!
